Moving a file across the room should be easy.

Local File Transfer lets any phone, tablet or computer send files to any other, right from the browser.

Why we built it

AirDrop is great, as long as every device is made by Apple. The moment an iPhone meets a Windows PC, or an Android phone meets a Mac, people fall back to emailing themselves, messaging apps that shrink their photos, or cloud uploads that take longer than the walk across the room.

We wanted something that works between any two devices, with nothing to install and no account to create. Open the same page on both, tap the other device, and the file is there.

How it works

Direct

Files travel straight between your devices over your own network, as fast as your Wi-Fi allows.

Private

Transfers are encrypted by the browser. Our server only introduces the devices and never sees your files.

Your choice

Nothing is saved until the receiving device accepts it, so nobody can send you a file you didn’t expect.

Want the details? Read our Privacy Policy or the three-step overview.

How it stays free

Because files never pass through our servers, running the service costs very little. To cover what it does cost, we may show a small number of ads. We will never sell your data or charge for the core feature: sending a file from one of your devices to another.

Who we are

Local File Transfer is built and run by a small independent team based in Pakistan. We are not affiliated with Apple, Google or Microsoft; see our Disclaimer.

Ideas, bug reports and questions are always welcome on our Contact page.

Try it now: open localfiletransfer.com on two devices.
